Exercise as therapy

Exercise to relieve and reduce stress

Many people who have a gambling addiction often neglect important elements of their daily health, wrecking chaos on both their emotional and physical wellbeing. It is important to repair both, and exercise benefits enormously in the full holistic recovery.

Exercise has been shown to alleviate both physical and psychological stress.

Exercise naturally and positively alters brain chemistry

When exercising the body releases endorphins which create a natural high. These are the same the body releases when one’s gambling, so by exercising, the brain is creating a natural feeling of happiness, pleasure and satisfaction.

Exercise is meditation in motion

This means by concentrating on the physical we can experience the psychological and emotional benefits of meditation.

Exercise improves your outlook

Those who exercise regularly report increased feelings of self-esteem, self-confidence and optimism and reduced feelings of depression, stress and anxiety.

In addition, regular exercise fosters improved sleep, greater energy and enhanced feelings of wellbeing, all which make life much more manageable, enjoyable and recovery becomes much more possible and importantly sustainable.
